Wax and humidity cause most hearing aid problems.
Your technology will need regular maintenance to keep working it’s best. You need to brush debris from your ear off of your hearing aids every night. If you have sticky ear wax, we sell a cleaning spray which will help break down the wax and make it easier to remove by wiping and brushing. Many devices have “wax traps” or “wax filters” that can trap wax and debris from your ear. The traps keep the wax from getting down on the receiver or speaker part of your hearing aid.
Your technology will also keep working its best if you place it in a drying box each night. We recommend the Zephyr manufactured by Dry and Store. This device will remove moisture and humidity from your technology that builds up inside your instruments each day. We have found that since we started recommending these devices to our patients that our repair rates have decreased significantly. Hearing aids fit inside your ear which is a naturally humid place. Also, moving from warm to cool environments can cause condensation to build up in your instruments as well, corroding wiring and other electrical components. The Zephyr removes this humidity, and also helps to dry out accumulated wax and oil in your instrument, making it easier to clean.
